The Wimodaughsian Library’s Association represents a group of people who desire to support the local library, keeping it alive and relevant within our community. Unlike the trustees, who are responsible for running the business side of the library, association members support the library through raising funds, hosting events and supporting programs.
The Association meets at 6:30 on the first Tuesday of each month, September through June. They discuss fundraising ideas. Past events have included house tours, book sales, bean soup mix sales, flower bulb fundraisers and chicken barbecues. More recently, members have donated items for basket raffles, hosted Zest4Art, a painting activity on vinyl records, and planned the return of the Cake & Ice Cream Social to Crazee Daze. One of the activities in which our Association members participate regularly is the bringing of homemade goodies for the coffee hour every week. The patrons love the variety of delicious muffins, doughnuts and cookies. Members also garden for the library, planting and tending to lovely flowers and keeping up the beds. Their participation in linking the library and the community is a very important part of the Wimodaughsian Free Library’s operations.
Fundraising is a very important part of services provided to the library, which operates on very little money each year. Donations of money are common, as well as donation of services by local businesses. All these aspects help keep the library operating to provide services to our patrons and to the community.
Anyone is welcome to join the Association, and new ideas are always welcome. Come to the next meeting and find out more!
